Forza Horizon 5 Season Change: The Absence of Lynk – GTPlanet

This week in Forza Horizon 5, the Lunar New Year celebrations continue, with a new Playlist available for the next seven days.

In this 30th Series of FH5, the observance of the Lunar New Year features a variety of Asian-themed events, showcasing Korean and Chinese cars, commemorating the Year of the Dragon beginning on February 10.

The game world includes cosmetic changes, most notably at the Arena, which becomes the “Lunar Drift Arena” for the series. It boasts a new layout, Chinese decorations, including the serpentine dragons, and paper lanterns.

The dragon also makes an appearance in the sky, as a drone show circles the stadium throughout the series, visible day or night thanks to the illuminated paper lanterns.

New cars from China and Korea are available throughout the Series, costing 20 points each season and 80 points overall, along with an Evolving World Accolade for collecting all five. Additionally, a new China-themed, paid-DLC pack is available.

Table of Contents

Series 30: Lunar New Year

You likely already have collected 80 points across the series, which will add the 2022 Hyundai Ioniq 6 to your garage.

The 6 is the flagship of Hyundai’s “Ioniq” EV sub-brand, and comes as a rather sensible four-door sedan with either single-motor and rear-wheel drive or dual-motor AWD forms.

Naturally, the AWD version is the most powerful, with 320hp available, but it should be noted that Hyundai had intended to produce an N model to go with its racing plans before the ETCR series folded.

Earning 160 points lands you the NIO EP9, a limited production halo hypercar concept designed to promote the NIO brand. It achieved an EV lap record at the Nurburgring in 2017, and holds similar records around COTA and Shanghai. This is largely due to its 1MW of electric horsepower, through four identical, in-wheel, 250kW motors, producing 1,341hp for those not accustomed to electric power measurements.

Series 30 Autumn/Storm Season Rewards

It’s an all-Chinese affair in this week’s playlist. At 20 points, you’ll acquire the Lynk&Co 02 HB, the hatchback version of the regular 02. The car shares underpinnings with the 03 sedan model and also Volvo’s XC40.

In this guise, the car sports a 250hp, two-liter turbocharged petrol engine like the one in the 03+. It powers the front wheels. This makes it something of a handful!

To increase the difficulty a bit, you can win the MG MG6 XPower #20 at 40 points. This is a similarly front-wheel drive machine, a fully fledged, TCR race car, so it puts most of its power to good use. Autumn will run until 1430 UTC on Thursday, February 15, while Series 30 will continue for a further two weeks until the same time on Thursday, February 29.

Series 30 Autumn Playlist: Forzathon Events

The legendary Lexus LFA stars in this week’s Forzathon Weekly event. This requires owning and driving one — and it’s a reward for completing The Trial this week — to get No Expense Spared underway.

It’s all about testing its performance this week, so firstly you’ll need to reach a speed of 200mph in the V10 performance car, and the runway or main highway are safe bets even for the stock car.

Although perhaps not most famous for racing, the LFA was developed at the N24, so win two Road Racing events in the car to complete the next step.

Finally, just drive a total distance of 20 miles (32km) in the Lexus to round out the tasks, earning five Playlist points and 80 Forzathon Points.

Weekly Challenge: No Expense Spared

  • Car: Lexus LFA ’10
    • Chapter 1: Own and drive the Lexus LFA
    • Chapter 2: Reach 200mph in the Lexus LFA
    • Chapter 3: Win two Road Racing events in the Lexus LFA
    • Chapter 4: Drive 20 miles in the Lexus LFA

Your seven Daily Challenges pop at their usual rate of one a day during the week, at 1430 UTC each day. In each case, you’ll earn one point for completing the challenge, with seven full days to do so.

Be a Snap Dragon first, and take a photo in the Lunar Drift Arena. You can double this up with the Photo Challenge this week, by taking your snap on one of the viewing platforms in the arena.

Go on to win a Road Race in any Chinese car (and note that the MGs are UK cars) to complete Dragon Dash next.

You’ll want to be a Street Racer next by winning any such race in a Korean car.

Earn a Lucky Landing when you achieve a Crash Landing Skill — combining an Air Skill for a clean jump with a Wreckage Skill for breaking a destructible object.

There’s plenty of Super Wheelspins on offer this week for the PR Stunts. Just redeem one — or a regular Wheelspin — to complete Lucky Dip.

Do a Drift Drop next, as you score three stars at any Danger Sign in any Drift category car.

Finally, drive three miles (4.8km) in any Alfa Romeo in the Lunar Drift Arena, around the inner banking is quickest, to prove that Romeo Must Drive.
